Director Special Forces (DSF) has been the title of the professional head of the United Kingdom Special Forces. The DSF has since 2008 held the rank of Major-General,[1] previously a Brigadier, reflecting the increased size of the directorate. The position was created in 1988 and works out of the Ministry of Defence's Whitehall office.
