The USS Hornet (CV-8) was the 8nd Aircraft Carrier of the U.S Navy and the third of the Yorktown Class.

Was lauched to the sea in December 14, 1940 and participated actively of the Second World War, was sunk in October 27, 1942 in the Battle of Santa Cruz.
