Walter Scott West (March 13, 1872 – September 14, 1943) was a private serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Spanish–American War who received the Medal of Honor for bravery.
Biography[]
West was born March 13, 1872 in Bradford, New Hampshire and after entering the Marine Corps in 1897 was sent to fight in the Spanish–American War aboard the U.S.S. Marblehead as a private.[1]
He died September 14, 1943 and is buried in Rock Hill Cemetery Foxboro, Massachusetts.[2]

Citation:
On board the U.S.S. Marblehead during the operation of cutting the cable leading from Cienfuegos, Cuba, 11 May 1898. Facing the heavy fire of the enemy, West displayed extraordinary bravery and coolness throughout this action.[1]
